Create a unique fun creative and transformative program for teenagers

Well, I think my challenge's adjectives get the general idea across. Have fun dreaming up what fun, creative and transformative (helps grow in body, mind or spirit) adventure you would have liked to have done when you were a teen.

The Story

Okay so this event wasn't specifically for teenagers, it was for everyone and anyone, but most of the participants ended up being young, college-age folks.  However, it was most definitely unique, fun, creative, and transformative.

The event was a Period Prom.  Basically, some friends and I used the tempting elements of food and a party to educate our peers about alternative menstruation and appreciating one's girly bits.

The mainstream feminine hygiene industry profits off of products that are not only bad for women's bodies (tampons are not regulated by the FDA and contain dioxins and other nasty things that you really don't want to be putting in your vagina) but are also horrifically bad for the environment (disposable stuff like that builds up, not to mention all the bleaches and chemicals they release into the environment).  There are alternatives such as reuseable silicone menstrual cups and washable cloth pads which are much healthier for women and the environment, however, many women are unaware that they have this choice.

There is also a social taboo surrounding talk about menstruation and women's vaginas, and they often feel as though they can't seek information out or be vocal about things of this nature.  With commercials for crinkle free pad wrappers and tiny tampons abound, it's not a wonder women think that this is something to hide.

To bring discussion about menstruation and vaginas to people's consciousness, we had a Vulva Bake Sale in which we sold vulva/period themed baked goods and crafts, and gave out flyers we had prepared explaining the problems with the mainstream feminine hygiene industry.  The bake sale was to raise money for the Period Prom, a completely free dance/costume party/consciousness-raising event to allow a space to have fun with vaginas!
